Brecon Beacons: Mountains & Waterfalls Weekend

This is an active walking weekend designed for people comfortable spending full days outdoors in the hills. You should feel confident walking across uneven terrain, including steep ascents and descents.

Routes will vary depending on weather conditions and the overall ability of the group.

Yes — many of our trips offer instalment options to help spread the cost.

A deposit secures your place, with the remaining balance split into manageable payments. Full details will be shown during the booking process.

Adventure Geek Travel cancellation terms will apply. As accommodation and guide costs are committed in advance, deposits are normally non-refundable unless your place can be resold. Full terms and conditions are available on our website.

Absolutely — lots of people do.

Adventure Geek trips are very friendly and welcoming, and many lifelong friendships have started on our adventures. Some people arrive nervous and leave with a whole new group of walking friends.

Once you book, you’ll receive confirmation emails with important information about your trip, we will then add you to the WhatsApp Group which is specifically for trip attendees.  Most trips we organise a zoom session a few weeks before so that we can talk through any questions that you may have. 

Closer to departure, I’ll send more detailed information including an updated trip plan, kit suggestions, meeting points, recommended flights (if relevant) car sharing opportunities etc. 

For most multi-day trips, yes.

Around two weeks before departure, I usually organise a relaxed Zoom session where we can go through the itinerary, kit, travel plans and answer any questions. It’s also a lovely way for everyone to meet before the adventure begins.

Accommodation varies depending on the adventure, but I always aim for places that are clean, welcoming and full of character.

This might include hotels, guesthouses, mountain huts, hostels or bunkhouses depending on the nature of the trip.

Not always — but they can be really helpful.

Walking poles reduce pressure on knees during descents, improve balance and can make longer walking days feel easier. Some people never use them, while others wouldn’t hike without them!

Mountain weather can change quickly in the Brecon Beacons. One of the advantages of this flexible weekend is that routes can be adapted to suit the conditions.

If conditions are unsafe for higher mountain routes, alternative walks will be selected.

A suggested kit list will be provided before the trip.

The exact kit depends on the adventure, but good footwear, waterproofs and comfortable layers are usually essential. You do not need expensive gear — practical and comfortable is far more important.

Yes — there will be a “guided walks only” option available for people wishing to arrange their own accommodation nearby.

This is ideal for campervan owners, campers or those preferring private accommodation.

On this particular trip we ask you to leave your furry friends at home please.

A full kit list will be sent before departure, but essential items include:

• Waterproof jacket & trousers
• Walking boots or trail shoes with good grip
• Warm layers
• Day rucksack
• Water bottle
• Hat and gloves
• Towel and toiletries
• Comfortable clothes for the evenings

The final recovery walk is expected to finish by early afternoon, allowing time for the journey home.

Yes — limited parking is available at the bunkhouse. Car sharing is encouraged where possible.
