Amsterdam Uncovered: Bikes, Bites & Bright Lights 2027

Our Amsterdam adventure begins bright and early as we fly from London to the Dutch capital.

After arriving at Schiphol Airport, we’ll make our way into the city by train before taking the short ferry crossing to Noord and our accommodation at ClinkNOORD. Once we’ve dropped our bags and settled in, it’s time to start exploring.

This afternoon we’ll discover a more thoughtful side of Amsterdam on a guided walking tour focused on Anne Frank, the city’s Jewish Quarter and the events of the Second World War. It’s a fascinating introduction to the city’s history and provides valuable context for the rest of our visit.

As evening falls, we’ll experience Amsterdam at its most magical with a canal cruise through the illuminated waterways, accompanied by Dutch cheese and wine. It’s the perfect opportunity to relax, meet your fellow Adventure Geeks and watch the city come alive after dark.

Today is all about experiencing Amsterdam like a local.

We’ll begin the morning with a guided bike tour, exploring the city’s iconic canals, historic neighbourhoods and hidden corners from the saddle. Cycling is woven into everyday life here, and there is simply no better way to get a feel for the city than on two wheels.

After some free time to grab a coffee or browse the local shops, we’ll spend the afternoon discovering Amsterdam through its food. Our guided tasting tour introduces us to a variety of Dutch favourites, from sweet treats and street food to local drinks and traditional snacks, all while learning about the city’s fascinating history and culture.

As darkness falls, we’ll explore a completely different side of Amsterdam on a guided walk through the famous Red Light District. Beyond the neon lights lies a fascinating story of trade, tolerance, social change and centuries of history. This eye-opening tour offers a unique insight into one of the world’s most talked-about neighbourhoods.

Today combines some of Amsterdam’s more unusual attractions with plenty of time to explore the city at your own pace.

We’ll start the day with a visit to the famous Sex Museum, one of Amsterdam’s most quirky and talked-about attractions. Offering a light-hearted and often humorous look at the history of love, relationships and human sexuality through the ages, it’s a fascinating glimpse into another side of the city’s famously open-minded culture.

The rest of the afternoon is yours to enjoy however you choose. You might visit one of Amsterdam’s world-class museums, browse the independent shops of the Nine Streets district, relax beside the canals with a coffee, or simply wander and see where the city takes you. For those who enjoy stretching their legs, there may even be an optional Adventure Geek wander and a geocache or two along the way.

As evening approaches, we’ll head to the iconic A’DAM Tower for some of the best views in the city. From nearly 100 metres above Amsterdam, you’ll be able to admire the canals, rooftops and skyline stretching into the distance. If you’re feeling brave, you can also take on the thrilling Over The Edge Swing – Europe’s highest swing – suspended high above the city below.

We’ll round off the evening with a burger dinner while enjoying the spectacular views, providing the perfect end to another memorable day in Amsterdam.

After breakfast, we’ll check out of the hostel and make the most of our final day in the Dutch capital.

With a late evening flight home, there’s plenty of time to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy a few final hours in one of Europe’s most fascinating cities before we make our way back to Schiphol Airport.

As all good adventures do, this one eventually comes to an end, but hopefully you’ll head home with wonderful memories, new friendships and plenty of stories to tell.
