If you’ve been around Adventure Geek for a while, you’ll know it didn’t start as a travel company. It started with a simple idea…
Get people outdoors, walking, talking, and feeling a bit more like themselves again.
No pressure. No judgement. Just fresh air, good company, and a few sweets at the halfway point.
What I didn’t expect was what happened next.
Friendships formed. Confidence grew. People started saying yes to things they never thought they would. And slowly, those local walks turned into something much bigger, a community.
And then came the question I kept hearing:
“Do you do trips away?” So our first trip was Corfe Castle weekend adventure (pre-covid) and we still run this trip today.
The Turning Point
At first, trips were just an extension of the walks. They were a bit of fun, and I loved putting them together. Everyone booked their own accommodation and I just guided the walks… simples. But something shifted after that first adventure. I saw what happened when people stepped away from their day-to-day lives. When they gave themselves permission to explore, to challenge themselves, to properly switch off. It wasn’t just a break for people. It was a way to build confidence and connect with like minded people.
Why Adventure Geek Travel Exists
Adventure Geek Travel was created to take everything people love about the community… and bring it into bigger, bolder adventures. We now needed to be a grown up company, become incorporated, and as I took on more guides and mountain leaders I needed different insurance, protection as a tour operator and to learn all about the travel industry (which is a minefield in itself). Fast forward eight years from that first walk, and here we are.
Adventure Geek Travel Limited will never be a “tick-box” tourism company. All the guides are hand-picked and I have worked with them previously. My goal is simple:
Create real experiences:
- Walking through incredible landscapes and cultures.
- Sharing stories over good food
- Trying things you might never have booked on your own
- Feeling part of something from day one
It’s for people who want more than just a holiday. It’s for people who want to feel alive again.
Why I Split the Businesses
As things grew, it became clear that local walks and overseas adventures needed to stand on their own two feet.
Adventure Geek (the community) is all about regular walks, social events, connection, and local experiences.
Adventure Geek Travel is about curated trips, bigger adventures, and giving people the confidence to explore the world, without having to figure it all out alone.
Separating the two means I can give each one the attention it deserves… and create even better experiences for you.
What This Means for You
If you’ve ever stood on a hill and thought “I wish I did more of this”…
If you’ve ever scrolled past a trip and thought “maybe one day”…
This is your sign.
Adventure Geek Travel is here to make those “one days” happen.
With the same friendly faces.
The same supportive atmosphere.
Just… a slightly bigger map.
And if you’re already part of the Adventure Geek world—thank you.
You’re the reason this exists.
And the best bit?
We’re only just getting started.
